We at Magnolia Hospice provide short-term crisis management, which is primarily nursing care, to achieve palliation of acute medical symptoms. We deliver the services at home and also in a nursing facility or assisted living if allowed by state regulations.
A contract is required if patient resides in a facility and state regulations allow the provision of continuous care. Similar with inpatient care this is also a short-term care with a daily reassessment from an RN. It must have a minimum of 8 hours of primary nursing care in a 24-hour period.
All medications, equipment, and supplies related to the terminal illness are provided by the hospice agency. Daily RN evaluation and approval of the plan of care with the interdisciplinary team are required. There is no change in Room and Board reimbursement to a facility (if CC in a facility is allowed by state regulations).
